Blind Association of Contramaestre awards winners of Cuban music contest

The National Association of the Blind, ANCI, in the municipality of Contramaestre summoned again its members and this time the purpose was to develop the first Cuban music festival “José Cuevas Veranes in memoriam”, in the context of the celebrations for the 47th anniversary of the creation of this organization.

Accompanied by Vice-Intendant Yudelis Arévalo Mora and Gladis Catalina Legón Pérez, member of the national secretariat of ANCI and its president in the province Efraín Borrero Montero, the contest was attended by performers with a high artistic level and mostly unpublished works.

The jury, made up of composers and orchestra directors of the territory, selected the winners in the bolero and son genres, as well as in the group format.

The first prize in bolero was won by Graciela Virgen García Despaigne with a song by composer Ermisleydis Tamayo Fuentes. José Ángel López Yáñez and Juan Antonio Reyes Medel shared first place in the son genre, while in grouping the Tradisón Group won the top prize of the event.

It was an excellent evening which was also attended by Rosario Márquez Hernández, wife of José Cuevas Veranes, who directed the ANCI in Santiago de Cuba for 27 years with the status of national vanguard.
