Landing of the Granma: Guarantee of Revolution and Homeland

Landing of the Granma: Guarantee of Revolution and Homeland

With the conviction of being free or martyrs, those men disembarked after a risky voyage on the Granma Yacht . Eighty-two expedition members left Tuxpan behind to become history, without knowing that the Lupe would mourn their departure.

That feat was the beginning of an end; it was one of the greatest exploits in search of the longed-for freedom and independence. In the restless waters of the Gulf, combatants sailed with a load of principles and decorum.

What joy and emotion in that guerrilla force! What immense bravery! The itinerary was well defined. To arrive and triumph was the marked purpose of those combatants of clean ideas and with weapons in their hands.

Prow to freedom, was the firmness of that voyage towards history, of that small but giant yacht in political ideologies and high morale. To resume the struggle initiated by the 26th of July Movement, with a strategic conception of guerrilla warfare in the Sierra Maestra, was the challenge of the 82 expeditionaries, who decided to take away rights and not to beg for them.

The Martian insurrectionist stars challenged the bad weather of the hazardous journey, the mud, mangroves and dangers, until they reached the Turquino to continue the Revolution.

This December 2 cannot be erased from history, because the crew of the Granma are symbols of independence, dignity and justice, of unshakable faith in victory. The disembarkation of that epic, with Fidel at the helm, is the guarantee of the eternal existence of the Revolution, of the Homeland.
