Provincial Authorities Call for Protection of Patient Care at Contramaestre Hospital

Social impact tasks were recently reviewed by the highest authorities of the province of Santiago de Cuba in the municipality of Contramaestre. One of these tasks, health care, prompted suggestions from the visitors, which were very well received by key decision-makers in that Santiago de Cuba territory.

The First Secretary of the Party in Santiago de Cuba, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, and the governor of the province, Manuel Falcón Hernández, visited Contramaestre and, during a necessary stop at the Olo Pantoja General Teaching Hospital, called for better health care standards.

Amid serious material limitations, the authorities insisted on doing everything possible to resolve issues related to the sanitation of the facility, which could be achieved through double contracting.

They also suggested seeking alternative ways to improve the food service for medical personnel, which could be achieved with the participation of non-state economic actors, an experience that has demonstrated good results in other settings.

During her visit, the member of the Central Committee and the Council of State emphasized the importance of paying special attention to the investment in the neonatal ward, where its staff has set a benchmark in the province.

The provincial authorities also reviewed the restoration work on the computed axial tomography equipment, which is considered a significant alternative for providing better health care to patients throughout southeastern Cuba.
