Venezuela´s victory through actual democracy

CARACAS, Venezuela -The Venezuelan people showed -in an act of actual democracy- that social and political victories are also won in peace, with the vote, and through dialogue.

Thus, citizens flocked to the more than 15,736 voting centers throughout the country, in the context of the regional and parliamentary elections held the day before in this South American nation.

The process, which took place in peace, allowed the election of more than 500 public offices, including governorships, legislative councils and the Parliament.

In this way, the gigantic electoral celebration was “a victory for Venezuelan democracy, and to guarantee the political plurality established in the Constitution”, said Vladimir Padrino López, Minister of Defense.

In this opportunity, the people exercised their right to vote as a constitutional instrument to decide their future and, above all, to settle political differences in a peaceful manner. In this sense, it should be mentioned that 54 political and indigenous organizations participated, representing the diverse tendencies of the country.

In general, the process combined electronic technology with physical support, and counted with the presence of national and international observers.
