For those of us who are true Cubans and love Cuba, the news announced by President Donald Trump to revoke Biden’s decision to include us once again on the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism was to be expected, because with the new president’s return to the White House, the policy towards the island will have a more frightening stamp.
The ephemeral victory, which did not even last a week, had its expectations, knowing that as of January 20 of the current year, a ruler would be reborn with omens of revenge, anti-communist euphoria, anti-immigrant, racist, expansionist without limits with allied partners, adversaries and new puppets.
With no room for scruples or ethics, the arbitrary decision speaks of Trump’s intentions, after his reelection, disrespecting a country that for more than 60 years suffers from the harmful effects of a unilateral policy that suffocates us, putting us against the sword and the wall.
By once again including Cuba in the spurious list, it is recognized that there is no possible truth, love or justice for a people that decided to choose its destiny, fighting for its sovereignty and independence.
We know that the times ahead will not be easy for the nation or for the world, because the Trump administration could make things worse.
How can we insist on an inclusion that discriminates against the essence of the Cuban, never committed or involved in acts of terror? Why not value the shortcomings of the country, immersed in a complex economic crisis, to solve problems and differences? How long will this philosophy of hatred and double standards last?
Although Trump is a man of fascist tendency, willing to challenge the whole world with his craving for total domination, Cuba will maintain the conduct of respectful dialogue, without negotiating its revolutionary principles and values.
Not yielding to blackmail, pressures and enemy decisions will be the watchword to resist any unjust policies adopted against us.
Let us hope that the purpose of being a great dictator within the United States and a Nazi-like global gendarme will show its best face so as not to turn the planet’s humanity into a hell. In the meantime, Cuba must continue to challenge its present and its future in the face of a re-elected administration that has already begun to show its teeth and nails.
Regardless of the decision, Cuba will overcome.
