A representation of the four Cuban provinces involved in the Agroforestry Cooperative Development Project, PRODECAFE, held a national workshop in the municipality of Contramaestre, in Santiago de Cuba.
The meeting paid special attention to the use of biofertilizers and biopesticides, a practice that is intended to be generalized in a more dynamic way in each one of the grain producers.
Among the strengths to achieve this is the production of these formulations in the Bioproducts Factory of Palma Soriano, a unit belonging to Empresa Agroindustrial Azucarera Dos Ríos.
In the national workshop held in the Coffee Company of Contramaestre, experiences were heard which validate the efficacy, also aimed at increasing agricultural yields, combating plagues and drought, besides ensuring the survival of coffee plantations.
PRODECAFE is sponsored by the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD, a specialized agency of the United Nations, and its objective is to contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector dedicated to coffee production and to improve the living conditions of the families that grow coffee.
