Intense work days are carried out by the agricultural staff working at the provincial medicinal plant farm in Santiago de Cuba, located in the base union business unit of the Laguna Blanca Agricultural Enterprise in Contramaestre municipality.
In this farm of medicinal plants works a collective formed by six workers, mostly young people. The management of the farm has been incorporating large mothers, people who were unemployed.
Twenty of the 30 hectares are already planted with varieties such as aloe, oregano, cane saint, anamu, guacamaya, and others destined to obtain alternative medicine that cures or prevents diseases.
José Ramón Machado Ventura, commander of the former Rebel Army, has recently visited this farm and he indicated to continue working on the efficient use of the land and the installed irrigation system, as well as extending the use of science and technology, essential steps to multiply the production of medicinal plants destined to guarantee part of the basic list of medicines in Cuba.
