Cuba elects 470 deputies with 75.92 percent of turnout

Havana, Mar 27 (Prensa Latina) The president of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, informed today that preliminary results of the national elections show that the 470 candidates for deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power (parliament) of Cuba were elected.

According to the official, 6,164,876 voters cast their ballots the day before, which represents 75.92 percent of the more than 8,120,000 voters called to the polls.

Balseiro explained that the turnout in these elections was higher than in previous elections, particularly in comparison with the Family Code Referendum, 1.8 percent higher and 7.36 percent more than in the municipal elections. ( Further information coming soon)
