Cuba dawns in National Elections. More than eight million voters are summoned to the polls to exercise their constitutional right to vote for the 470 deputies to the Cuban Parliament. The process is taking place in 12 427 constituencies, 23 648 polling stations which were created (250 of them being special); and more than 200 000 authorities (62 000 constituency authorities and more than 118 000 polling stations) are involved in the process today.

Polling stations are open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Candidates must obtain more than 50% of the valid votes cast to be elected as deputies to the Cuban Parliament. Those elected will select the president and vice president of the Republic of Cuba and will continue with the legislative development of the Constitution.

In such a transcendental political process, which takes place every five years, this time, it is a source of pride that 94 young people can, if elected by the people, become deputies to Parliament. This represents 20 percent of the 470 candidates and speaks of the leading role that our generation has in the present and future of Cuba.
