Contramaestre takes care of demographic dynamics

Contramaestre is among the three Santiagueros territories with the highest number of aging population, hence the local government is identified with the need to offer a broad and deep look at the demographic dynamics.

This is a priority task, and in turn constitute a territorial policy that has its impact on all spheres of economic and social life from the municipality to the nation, hence it has been conceived in Contramaestre the Territorial Plan of Attention for Demographic Dynamics.

Taking into account the current challenges in relation to the behavior of the demographic indicators of the territory: with low fertility rate and increasing tendency to population aging, the local government conceived a plan of integral actions, with several measures aimed at finding solutions with territorial projection and multisectorial intervention.

Several actions in this area have been led by the permanent work commissions of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, identifying weaknesses and strengths of decisive agencies in the attention to demographic dynamics, such as public health, housing, labor and social security, education, culture, sports, among others.

As part of this policy, the Labor and Social Security Directorate has been working to stimulate the employment of people apt for work and study.

This agency proceeded with its social workers to carry out a survey at the district level to determine the potential of people who are no longer studying or working, and to develop job fairs and job tables in various popular councils, in coordination with the employment department of state and non-state entities.

From the above, it can be summarized that more than 70 people have been recruited, most of them already incorporated into the non-state sector, and almost thirty young people willing to continue their studies, mainly from the councils of Laguna Blanca and La Torcaza.
