Inauguration of Little Seeds of the Future children's home in Laguna Blanca

In recent years, the increase in the number of requests for children’s circles has been the subject of analysis in the educational sector in the municipality of Contramaestre. This is largely the result of the gender program implemented in the country for the incorporation of women to the development and empowerment of Cuban women in society.

It is a reality that the issue of enrollment in children’s circles has experienced difficulties due to the fact that in many areas the demand is greater than the number of places available.

However, in recent years the country has implemented a strategy to solve to a large extent this claim of working mothers. The creation of children’s homes has been one of them.

In the municipality of Contramaestre in Santiago de Cuba, educational institutions have already been opened in response to the women’s demand. Some of them are located in remote areas of the southeastern territory.

The Semillitas del Futuro children’s home is the third center of its kind to be opened in this area, with an enrollment of 25 children. This is a social work of great impact for the Laguna Blanca demarcation, as an agricultural zone where the largest productive pole of Santiago de Cuba is located. There, 26 working mothers will benefit from the opening of the center.

At the inauguration of the educational institution, representatives of the educational sector of the Santiago jurisdiction explained to party and government authorities, parents and neighbors of the community of El Cuartelito about the operation and structure.

It will operate in two multiple classrooms, one dedicated to the attention of the second and third year of life, that is to say, the youngest children. The other room is the fourth and fifth year, these will be the older children and we have also designed a room for the preschool grade, but the latter will be when the conditions for the children’s circle are created. It is a beautiful institution that the working mothers here in Laguna Blanca can enter employment and that their children can have quality educational attention from the early childhood educators who are prepared for this task.

Five teachers make up the teaching staff of the children’s home, an entity that will also generate a source of employment in the community of Laguna Blanca.
