This Thursday was held the Plenary Session of the Provincial Committee of the Party in Santiago de Cuba. It was presided over by the First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, Roberto Morales Ojeda.
At the meeting it was agreed, at the request of the Political Bureau, to release comrade José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz from his responsibility as First Secretary of this Committee.
To replace him, Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, member of the Central Committee of the Party and of the Council of State, who held the position of Governor of the province, was promoted.
Beatriz Johnson is a Chemical Engineer by profession. Barely 54 years old, she has developed her working and government life in Santiago de Cuba. Here she has held several positions in the “José Merceron Allen” Cement Factory: head of department, technical director, maintenance, investment and development. Subsequently, she was general manager of the Cement Mixed Enterprise Santiago de Cuba S.A., which belongs to the Ministry of Construction.
In government activities, she was vice-president and president of the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power in Santiago de Cuba until she became governor of the province.
At the meeting, Cuban President Díaz-Canel and the Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales Ojeda expressed their recognition to José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, for his performance at the head of the party organization in the heroic city, who contributed to maintain the unity among the cadres and the people to face with exigency and creativity the tasks in the political, economic and social order.
Comrade Monteagudo Ruiz will rejoin the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
