The study of Mathematics becomes complex for many people, solving problems, making calculations or possible solutions is a real odyssey, for others, like the sixth grade student Camilo de Jesús Guerra Galán, the knowledge of numbers is fascinating. Hours of study and sleeplessness together with the support he finds in his family and study center, Orlando Pantoja Tamayo Semi-boarding School in Contramaestre, Santiago de Cuba, are responsible for his success. Camilo is the winner of the gold medal in the provincial contest of Mathematics.
Camilo de Jesús Guerra Galán: …I want to thank the methodologists, my teacher and my mother who support me in everything I needed, not only they taught me the contents of the subject but also values to make me a good man, I am planning for the next years to improve in the contests and to choose the career I want.
Mathematics in the family tradition
Camilo comes from a family of consecrated educators; his mother, a Mathematics teacher, is the pride of Cuban education for her achievements as a researcher and professional. Cultivating her son’s talent becomes Kamelia Virgen Galán Segura’s main incentive.
Camilo’s mother: … makes me feel immensely proud, I see that he is the bearer of everything we have instilled in him at home, bearer of genes that come from generation to generation because not only I am the math teacher but my parents and my brother are too, he has inherited that pedagogy and that mathematical genetics.
Undoubtedly, Camilo de Jesús Guerra Galán will continue to be the pride of his family, his school and his community. His thirst for knowledge, his discipline and dedication will make him a good man, grateful for all the knowledge received in his humble school, as big as the giant heart he has in his chest. Camilo will be an excellent professional.
