Ensuring the mental stability of individuals is the main objective of the workers of the Mental Health Center in the municipality of Contramaestre. Through different consultations, this center offers professional help and guidance to people both in the territory itself and in the surrounding area.
Ivet Estrada Martínez, one of the professionals of the institution, commented on how it is committed to mental health in the municipality.
“In our center we have several care programs for the entire municipality. Many people from other territories also request the help of our professionals, thanks to the work we have developed and the empathy we have towards other people’s situations.
Our job is to help, advise and guide each person in a given situation. We listen, which is fundamental in this profession, and we do our best to make people feel good. We work according to professional ethics, because nothing of what happens in our consultations leaves our offices; it is totally confidential.
We have the challenge of making psychology be recognized as a means of support for everyone, regardless of their situation. There are some people who do not come to our consultations because they consider it is not pertinent, but in reality, at some point everyone, from the youngest to the oldest, needs our advice and our help, and mainly the calm and tranquility that sometimes we lack”.
Through psychology it is possible to dive into the depths of the human brain, and thus interpret events that, for most, may go unnoticed. It is a highly humanistic profession, focused on the good of the individual.
Mental health influences all aspects of people’s personal and social lives. Contramaestre stands out for its commitment to this statement, and for its psychology professionals who guide and listen without prejudice.
