The world said it again: Tear down the blockade of Cuba. It is not the first time it has done so. For more than 30 years the planet has been demanding the giant to put an end to that genocidal policy against an island that defends its independence and sovereignty.
Since 1962, an innocent people has been suffering the impact of arbitrary and inhumane actions that affect the full human development of every Cuban, limiting the children of the nation with shortages and vicissitudes.
For more than 60 years the Cuban population has suffered from restrictions on food, medical and sanitary supplies, raw materials for construction, industry, technological development and agriculture.
For more than six decades, productive and service sectors such as transportation, energy and science have been hit by this cruel and abusive policy that hinders access to external multilateral financing, international credits and all kinds of commercial operations.
If the blockade is overthrown, Cuba would not be isolated from the world, as the brutal and revolted north pretends, because in the midst of this cruelty, the island, with its limited conditions, has managed to stand out with its own brilliance for the good of humanity in its country and other nations of the world.
If the blockade is lifted, some 53,000 cancer patients would not run the risk of dying because they do not have all the requirements for the established protocols, since the lack of drugs, technologies and equipment for molecular diagnostic tests that sequence the genome of a tumor are sad realities in Cuba.
If the blockade is lifted, the physical and mental health of patients and their families will not generate tensions among medical personnel, which will have a negative impact on health care institutions.
If the blockade is lifted, the nation’s children, adolescents and young people would not be affected with the material basis for study, in defense of the teaching-learning process and the future of many generations.
If the blockade is lifted, the Cuban people have the right to improve their quality of life, they have the right to develop political, economic, financial and commercial relations on equal terms as one more nation in the world.
Tear down the blockade now, this is the cry of the Cubans and of the world for that empire that suffocates, for that force that acts with impunity, that imposes a false narrative to try to legitimize its authority in a Cuba in solidarity, that demonstrates its courage, tenacity and bravery in defending its ideals, its self-determination and popular sovereignty.
Let it be heard loudly, transparently? Bring down the blockade now!
