In Venezuela elections took place in which the majority of the people voted for President Nicolás Maduro, however both the U.S. government and the Latin American oligarchies do not accept such result, and stimulate the Venezuelan opposition to violence and destabilizing maneuvers that lead to chaos.
The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, speaking at the 11th Extraordinary Summit of ALBA-TCP, denounced the US meddling in the internal affairs of Venezuela, and the uncivilized, violent and fascist attitude of part of the opposition.
At this time, both Our America and all mankind are threatened by the imperial and hegemonic forces, and they are feeding with full force the meddling plans against Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela.
As Fidel Castro reiterated on so many occasions, the unity of the Latin American peoples will be the most powerful weapon against imperialism, and Diaz-Canel also confirmed this at the recent summit.
Unity is the basis and essence of the invincible force of the peoples in revolution. Cuba, which knows, respects and admires the civic-military, Bolivarian and Chavista unity of the Venezuelan people, trusts that, with that strength, the homeland of Bolivar, Chavez and Maduro will continue to demonstrate that it is proof against all threats and harassment.
At the same time, he reiterated that these are times of union and firmness in the face of imperialism and oligarchies that oppose social development policies and that go against the monopolization of resources and hegemony.
Cuba maintains its unwavering position in defense of the most legitimate rights of the people to decide their political and social destiny and supports the reelection of Nicolás Maduro, as a result of the will of the people. This was categorically expressed by the Cuban President at the XI ALBA-TCP Extraordinary Summit:
¨We will always and unambiguously defend what the peaceful, honorable and beloved people of Venezuela, punished by unjust unilateral coercive measures and in the midst of very adverse circumstances, have achieved, with hard work and determination, the economic and social rebirth of the nation,¨ defends and supports with their vote.
