Elementary school children belonging to the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM) of Contramaestre, making their own the tradition of being the custodians of the ballot boxes in elections in Cuba this March 26, will once again fulfill their role in the national elections this March 26 when the deputies for this territory will be elected to the Parliament.
As it has happened in similar previous events, more than 2 thousand pioneers of this municipality will assume the responsibility of guarding the ballot boxes that will be set up in the 270 polling stations that will be used on that day.
Elections in Cuba: social guarantee
Fulfilling this task in the presence of such a unique democratic exercise means for the OPJM in Contramaestre an act of expression of the guarantees and rights of boys and girls to be participants of the tranquility that Cuban civil society owns even in difficult circumstances knowing that to make it better is possible (#MejorEsPosible).
Not only in the schools will the pioneers be protagonists in safeguarding the exercise of democracy, but they will also be the ones who will carry the ballot to those people who for health reasons or physical limitations cannot get to the polling stations.
