La Esperanza, Contramaestre's promising medium-sized non-state-owned company

In the municipality of Contramaestre, six months after its opening, the medium-sized company “La Esperanza” is beginning to emerge as a promising self-financed non-state entity, with a project aimed at providing and commercializing a variety of gastronomic services.

Located in the Patricio Lumumba urban district, the MSME “La Esperanza”, employing 26 workers, has been complying with its corporate purpose and tax obligations since January 2022, when it was included in the commercial registry. The details with Yanet Pimentel, its legal advisor.

Which are the services currently provided by the collective?

“In the commercialization of products of the company through importers and through the wholesale network, both in the mini-market and in the cafeteria, foreseeing, once the projected constructive actions are concluded to also have a processing center, to extend a mobile service with food offerings.”

Once the processing center operates as a mini-enterprise, which assortments would expand the provision of gastronomic services?

Varieties produced by the company

“The company will offer a wide range of products: sausages, cut meats, jams, bread, vinegar, canned fruits, among other varieties. In addition, the waste resulting from the manufacturing processes will be processed for the production of food for animal consumption.”

“We are going through a process aimed at bidding for a new store, which will enable us to expand into two markets and with them, extend the service to the center of the city of Contramaestre and the town of Maffo.”

In the updating of the Cuban economy under the effects of the U.S. blockade on the island, new economic actors are incorporated in Contramaestre: micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), an alternative that also benefits private workers.

La Esperanza” medium-sized enterprise is identified with the articulation demanded by the national economy between the state and non-state sectors, and it is expected to consolidate itself as soon as possible in the productive chain and in efficiency.
