Millionaire Movement

The Millionaire Movement in the sugar cane harvest in Cuba was formed on March 3, 1965, which was made up of brigades of highly productive macheteros in sugar cane cutting, throughout the country. It was the vanguard force in manual cane cutting.

This movement was catalogued by the historical leader Fidel Castro, as a labor feat, given the astronomical figures reached by the macheteros at the stroke of a hand.

True champions of the mocha were identified from then on with that nascent movement, turning their collectives into millionaires and several macheteros into National Vanguards.

These heroic deeds were witnessed in the sugar cane fields of the sugar mills of this province, where Comandante Ernesto Che Guevara also carried out the first tests for the introduction of mechanization.

It is therefore, March 3, a date inscribed in the calendar that marked a stage of labor feats, starring giants of the sugarcane.
