With the goal of improving the quality of education, the Basic Secondary and Pre-University education levels will begin the 2025-2026 school year on September 1. In the municipality of Contramaestre, the basic education level will have an enrollment of 3,580 students, while the upper secondary level has 1,221 students.
According to Héctor Sánchez Torres, Head of the Basic Secondary Education Department, sales of school uniforms for this level are at 90%. Meanwhile, literature for the second group of the third level of advanced education and basic study materials are being distributed; the latter, according to adjusted standards.
A similar situation exists for pre-university education, explained Alexis Camejo Cedeño, Head of the Pre-University Education Department in the municipality. The director also stated that in the municipality, 191 twelfth-grade students intend to take the higher education entrance exams, and highlighted the decisive role of families in this process.
Regarding the priorities for the new phase, they highlight the strengthening of history and civic education, as well as work toward higher education admission. Professional guidance for teaching careers is also a key focus, in line with the needs of the region.
The main efforts are focused on completing the teaching staff, in order to guarantee quality education during this school year. Teacher training and the individual commitment of each student are key factors in the results the municipality expects for both educational levels.
