The efforts and actions carried out since last July guarantee the start of the next school year in Cuba today, if necessary, according to a statement made by the Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo, in a public appearance.
On the Mesa Redonda program, Trujillo, along with authorities from other ministries, outlined details of the preparation process for the 2025-2026 school year, which begins on September 1st.
Her explanation, and that of the other officials, focused on ensuring education from preschool to pre-university, and she summarized a tour of the country specifically to evaluate this process.
During the television program, it was revealed that the teacher shortage is decreasing compared to previous years, and the restoration of some 300,000 educational centers was highlighted.
The minister also highlighted the “enthusiasm and commitment to facing the new school year” throughout the country, in which, in her words, the third advanced training program will be implemented.
This consists, she commented, of simplifying the curricular transformation for students in third, sixth, ninth, and twelfth grades through teaching tools.
She also considered important “the official publication of the Code of Children, Adolescents, and Youth on January 28th, which will contribute to the growth of students in society.”
The central event marking the start of the school year, she said, will be held at the Tania La Guerrilla teacher training center, founded by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz (leader of the Cuban Revolution), in the western province of Pinar del Río.
This Wednesday, the Minister of Education will again participate in the Roundtable to expand on the topic and answer questions from the public.
