This September 2, full of joy and optimism, students and teachers crowded the courtyard of the Enrique Colina Antúnez Educational Institution of the America Popular Council, to start the 2024-2025 school year, including a representation of the entire municipality of Contramaestre.

Attending the ceremony were Yoelvis Suárez Zapata, Secretary of the Party and Manuel Rodríguez Alfaro, President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, Karel Vazque López, Mayor, Yaquelín Domíguez Tamayo, president of the José Martí Pioneers Organization in the territory, as well as Maricela Echavarría Ge, director of education of the locality.

Student Sofía Cruz García read out the student commitment for the current school year:
“Our priority is to study every day to improve the learning levels and overcome the grade objectives and conclude the primary education bringing to the secondary education a quality graduate…”
During the presentation of the different moments of the ceremony, it was a constant allusion to Fidel Castro’s thought related to education:
“And what does the Revolution have to be? The Revolution has to be a school of revolutionaries, the Revolution has to be a school of brave men, the Revolution has to be a school of free thought, the Revolution has to be a forge of characters and men; the Revolution has to be, above all, faith in its own ideas, application of its ideas to the reality of history and the reality of life; the Revolution has to lead men to study, to think, to analyze, to have deep conviction…” Fidel Castro

The main speech was pronounced by Master Ariannis Nava Fonseca, Principal of the educational institution Arquímides Colina Antúnez, highlighted the existence of the minimum conditions necessary to successfully develop the new school year 2024-2025, and underlines the role of the school in our society:
“With the participation of the family, the community, the students and educators, the school makes up a space for integral formation and the preparation for life of the learners from the earliest ages…”
And it states that it is urgent to have an inclusive school that teaches how to learn, to think, to create, to reflect, and it calls for improving the quality of teaching…”.
