Today Contramaestre celebrates its 113th anniversary as the municipal musical band played for the city in honor on the foundation of this city which occur on February 5, 1913, when an urban area, accompanied by the arrival of the railroad, the main road, warehouses and hotels and trade ruled the life of this new town in Cuba.
A local singer accompanied a Canadian retired professional singer, Gilles Lebel, from Quebec , who traditionally visits Contramaestre, and who sang La Guantanamera in French.
Alfonso Gutiérrrez (Pachango) was the announcers of the celebration.
