Animal Feed Factory in Contramaestre Affected by Tropical Cyclone

The animal feed factory in the municipality of Contramaestre is one of the productive economic entities affected by the powerful Hurricane Melissa. This industry supports the development of the swine program in this part of eastern Cuba.

Today, workers at the factory are working to recover, to the extent that conditions allow, the resources that were not damaged by the storm. A significant amount of raw materials used to produce the feed were affected, and alternatives are being implemented for their recovery. Roof coverings and other resources were also damaged.

According to the factory’s director, Zolayda Matamoros Mora, after the hurricane, the workers focused on recovery efforts to ensure this productive sector for the food security and sovereignty that the country needs now more than ever.
