The América Libre agro-industrial company in the municipality of Contramaestre has suffered extensive production losses following Hurricane Melisa. This economic entity, which guarantees the self-sufficiency of this eastern region, is quantifying the agricultural damage.

These crops were part of the planting and harvesting plans for the winter season, which will not achieve the expected results due to the current situation.

Nevertheless, the agro-industrial company is implementing strategies to recover and secure the crops that survived this powerful weather event.

In the case of the Bungo agricultural development area, a production hub belonging to this entity, representatives reported significant damage to crops such as plantains and cassava. Similarly, crops such as beans and tomatoes that were in the development stage were also affected.
