Pursuant to the instructions of the Cuban Parliament, and in addition to the need to accompany, control and promote recovery actions for the damage caused by Hurricane Melisa, the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power raises the challenge of working to consolidate Community activity throughout the jurisdiction.

It is essentially a matter of strengthening diverse and priority actions in those neighborhoods and communities with all kinds of complexities. It is also a question of leaving well identified from the local level the tasks that can contribute to minimize the effects left by the meteorological event, among them, the call for the popular contest to return a favorable panorama in the environmental hygienic environment of the communities, neighborhoods and dwellings.

The working directions set up in this regard by the local government include bodies and mass organizations in the 161 districts of the territory, with the delegate’s mandate to promote actions taking into account the diagnosis of the demarcation in which he exercises competence, visualizing first those that may affect the health of the population, as is the case with vector carriers of various diseases.

As part of the needs to be developed with a view to strengthening community activity in the midst of the complex social economic landscape experienced by the inhabitants of Contramaestre, it is also necessary to update the survey on local development projects, especially those related to food production, essentially short-cycle crops such as yucca, sweet potato and vegetables.

Other issues related to the strengthening of community work concern the need to strengthen revolutionary vigilance and combativity, responding in a timely manner to the dissatisfaction and complaints of the population and the rehabilitation of units linked to the provision of services to the people, in line with the improvements that are being incorporated in the area of recovery.

Note that the People’s Power is a system which exists in Cuba, to direct society and exercise government; in the years of its existence, the people have raised the knowledge of the action of these organs and manifest it in the fundamental, by participating in the solution of their community’s problems.
