The losses caused by that meteor over 10 million pesos the areas of the insured farmers in Contramaestre, because of the impact of strong winds in eastern provinces of Cuba in the early hours of October 2025.
It transpired in the Office of National Insurance of Contramaestre that up to this Wednesday have been received 31 complaints from customers belonging to this branch, revealing a possible affected area of 2,541 hectares and a lost production of about 33,495 tons, in which sugar cane, coffee and other crops are quantified and classified.
In the current recovery phase, which is taking place in this territory, eminently agricultural in eastern Cuba, the command post is activated by the Insurance Company, while the insured farmers are receiving, declarations of losses caused by the hydrometeorological phenomenon Melissa.
Once the process of receiving these declarations has been completed, field work will be carried out by INTERMAR, S.A, in order to assess the damage caused to crops by the natural phenomenon. The client’s claim file will be formed and after a period of 30 days this entity will compensate the insured with the policy in force in their respective coverage.
In Contramaestre is not laudable the potential of customers assured by the agricultural sector and the most striking fact is in the Agricultural Company of Laguna Blanca, with large losses in one of its main crops such as banana, in addition to other lines committed to deliveries to the city of Santiago de Cuba.
