Educational institutions in Contramaestre honor Camilo and Che

Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara


Educational institutions of the municipality of Contramaestre, carry out activities to greet the Ideological Day Camilo-Che, in order to deepen the knowledge of both historical figures from the classrooms.

At the Antonio Maceo Grajales primary school, located in the Popular Council of Maffo, these commemorative activities began with the entry of first-grade students to the organization of Pioneros José Martí (OPJM), according to Jacqueline López Mendoza, Guide base of the educational center.

“Year after year, the Camilo-Che Day has significance in our country, and specifically in our educational institution we begin with two very important processes, which are the acts of entry of first grade students to the OPJM and the Movement of Pioneer Explorers. On this day the school dresses up, together with the families.

Our center has proposed a series of activities, such as special mornings, photo exhibitions and books on both heroes, educational talks in the library to learn about Camilo’s anecdotes and stories of Che in the guerrilla. Pioneering competitions will also be held”.

López Mendoza also commented on the relevance of the ideals of both historical figures in the work carried out by the pioneer organization.

“For the pioneers, to know the life and work of Che and Camilo, especially those of the first degree, help the students as protagonists of activities a tribute to Camilo and Che in the anniversaries number 68 and 58, respectively, of their physical disappearances, is a way of bringing the new generations closer to Cuba’s history.

Other educational institutions in the territory join the activities in tribute to these two emblematic heroes of the nation, and bet on the teaching of history through their protagonists.
