Contramaestre initiated the process of discussing the preliminary draft law on the Labour Code, a legislative proposal which aims to enrich itself through the active participation of all workers, regardless of their form of management.
In the territory, this consultation process was chaired by Lisaura Martínez Martínez, a member of the municipal office of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) that serves the social sphere; Enaildo Ariaga Zamora, vice president of the Union of Jurists of the territory, and Arianna Correa Cardoso, general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) in the municipality.
At the meeting, those present expressed their doubts, opinions and suggestions regarding what was set out in the preliminary draft of the Labour Code. Among the most frequently mentioned topics are the payment of wages and the possibilities for multiple employment.
Regarding the relevance of the popular consultation process, Arianna Correa Cardoso, general secretary of the CTC in the municipality, commented that “it is of great interest to workers, especially those in the non-state sector, as they are included in the new draft”.
The preliminary draft is structured in four books containing titles, chapters, articles and provisions, showing how comprehensive and extensive this new legislative proposal is. This responds to the current needs and demands of workers in all sectors in the country.
