2025-2026 school year kicks off in Contramaestre

Amidst the country’s challenging economic climate, the 2025-2026 school year began in Contramaestre on September 1st, with more than 15,390 general education students attending the classrooms.

In this territory of eastern Cuba, the Tony Alomá Serrano Elementary School, in the Patricio Lumumba district, was the venue for the municipal ceremony for this important event, which was attended by party and government authorities from the territory, as well as leaders of political and mass organizations.

In the student center, decorated for the occasion, participants enjoyed various cultural events sponsored by the Isidro Iglesias del Rey Municipal Cultural Center. These events were enthusiastically received by the pioneers who happily wore their school uniforms.

At the municipal kickoff ceremony for the 2025-2026 school year at the Tony Alomá Serrano Elementary School in Contramaestre, students, accompanied by their parents and other family members, listened to keynote remarks by Lisaura Martínez Martínez, a member of the Municipal Party Bureau responsible for the social sphere of Education.

In Contramaestre, this school day began with a strong social component, from professionals and workers at institutions involved in the collective effort to maintain the continuity of the educational process.
