The efforts of the Aguas Turquino Company in the municipality of Contramaestre resulted in the repair and restart of the two pumping units in the area, which had been affected in previous days. The adaptation and replacement of parts accounted for the majority of the maintenance work performed.
Regarding the technical aspects, Marcial Pérez Naranjo, director of the Western UEB, Contramaestre Zone, of Aguas Turquino, explained that “the work was carried out in the machining workshop of the Central América Libre; the cover of motor number 1 was repaired, installing a new bearing, leaving it ready for operation. Twelve bolts were also made for the second unit, with a capacity of 193 liters per second, to be used if necessary.”
The strategy to restore the water supply in the municipality focused on starting with vital facilities, such as health centers and childcare centers, as well as hydrometric sectors with longer cycles.
“Once the pumping equipment was ready, we prioritized the hospital, then the urban center, where there are critical facilities. Service was also provided in the upper part of the Frank País neighborhood, with the Lumumba neighborhood, which has been affected since the previous cycle, still pending.”
Pérez Naranjo commented that the commitment to guaranteeing the water supply poses a major challenge under current conditions; even so, the dedication of the Aguas Turquino company’s workers in the municipality contributes significantly to the stability of this vital service.
