Restoring the water supply to the population as quickly as possible is the main objective of the repair and maintenance work being carried out by the Aguas Turquino Base Business Unit in the municipality of Contramaestre. Efforts are focused on repairing the two pumping systems in the area, with capacities of 220 and 194 liters per second, respectively.
Wailfrido Domínguez Vega, Maintenance and Investment Specialist for the Contramaestre Zone of the Western Business Unit (UEB), Aguas Turquino, states that “work is being done taking into account the capabilities of the area, in addition to the years of operation of the pumping equipment itself; in this sense, replacing the bearings is a priority.”
Among the hydrometric sectors most affected by the current situation are Lumumba and the Urban Center, stated Marcial Pérez Naranjo, Director of the entity. The executive also discussed strategies for the eventual restoration of service, which are based on supplying communities with longer cycles.
Ensuring water availability in the 16 hydrometric circuits in the area is a priority task for the municipality of Contramaestre. In this endeavor, the collaborative work of the various entities is the most appropriate strategy.
