Havana, July 28 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban people today remember the heroines Melba Hernández and Haydée Santamaría on the 104th anniversary of their birth and the 45th anniversary of their passing, respectively.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero paid tribute to the Moncada attackers on the social network X and highlighted the dedication of their lives to the defense of the homeland.
For his part, the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales, expressed that “their example lives on in our women and in all the everlasting work they sowed.”
Melba and Haydée are known in our history for being the only women of the 26th of July Revolutionary Movement. They were united by struggle, prison, the Sierra Maestra, and the definitive triumph of January 1, 1959.
Fate willed that they remain united forever on this date. For Cubans, beyond life or death, they will always be the heroines of Moncada.
