Colleges are considered a preparatory stage prior to higher education studies. They provide training for eleventh-grade students aspiring to a specific university program and, therefore, also provide a pathway to university admission.

Geisel Alejando Villa Zorrilla, an eleventh-grade student from the municipality of Contramaestre, is one of the young people who have enrolled in this program, in this case, to gain access to a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism.

The student emphasized that “the aptitude test for admission to the Journalism College is highly rigorous, covering various aspects of general culture, such as the current political landscape, history, art, and society in general.”

Colleges allow students to develop their oral and written expression skills prior to entering university, which is an efficient strategy for honing their skills and expanding their knowledge. These types of courses also offer the opportunity to interact with future colleagues in the field and gain insight into the work of local media.

In the new media landscape, marked by the influence of technology, comprehensive training for future journalists is essential. Studying twelfth grade in university classrooms contributes significantly to the training required by current conditions.
