Díaz-Canel Meets with Dilma Rousseff in Brazil Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, July 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel met today with Dilma Rousseff, president of the New Development Bank, in the context of the 17th BRICS Summit in this South American nation. Commenting on the meeting on Facebook, the Cuban president explained that he reaffirmed to his interlocutor his nation's commitment to continue promoting South-South and Triangular Cooperation. Our country can be an important platform for the economic development of the Greater Caribbean, he noted in his message. Díaz-Canel thanked Cuba the day before for joining the BRICS as a partner, a group he described as a symbol of hope in the construction of multilateralism. He also denounced the consequences of the coercive measures imposed by the United States on the construction of the Caribbean country's social and development project. The head of state emphasized that in the 21st century, unilateral lists and certifications based on criteria he described as unfounded, such as the designation of Cuba on the list of states that sponsor terrorism, have no place. He noted that present and future generations have the right to live in a world of peace and security, where social justice, respect for cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, and democratic access to science and technology prevail.
