Havana, June 4 (RHC) Cuba’s Minister of Communications Mayra Arevich, in an interview with the multinational TVBrics network in Russia, today highlighted her country’s priorities as a Brics partner country.
The head of the Cuban delegation to the Innovations and Services Fair and the Digital Forum taking place in the Russian city since June 2, explained that the partnership with the Brics opens new opportunities for Cuba in science, technology and international cooperation.
“The possibility of being in the artificial intelligence alliance with the Brics, will open a path of integration and work of professionals of the association and Cubans in projects that are not only made for our peoples, but also for the world of the countries of the bloc. I believe we have potential,” Arevich said.
She also recalled that Cuba acquired the status of Brics partner country in 2024 and, since then, has been actively implementing joint initiatives. According to the minister, the partnership has raised the status of Havana’s science and technology park.
At the same time, she stressed, Cuba is betting not only on the technological field, but also on the social one.
In his criteria, the country’s president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, has highlighted three key areas: work in the online environment, support for social initiatives and improving the level of education, especially with regard to modern information technologies.
He added that the digital forum has become an important opportunity for Cuba to expand its potential in these areas.
