In an early celebration of the the Farmer’s Day this May 17 in the municipality of Contramaestre, a group of farm workers who have excelled in the fulfillment of their vital work of producing food was recognized. It was also the transcendence of the historical dates around this day.
At the invitation of the National Association of Small Farmers, a representation of men and women of the Contramaestrian countryside gathered at the CCS Virgilio Castañeda Garcés of Las Llanadas in the district of Los Negros to celebrate the municipal act for the day of the farmer.
In the municipal act for May 17, structures and farmers who have excelled in the vital work of producing food were recognized. Carlos Manuel Moreno González received the status of national vanguard, the CCS Ramiro Betancourt received the status of vanguard and the CCS Virgilio Castañeda Garcés received special recognition.
In the context of important peasant anniversaries and a few hours before the thirteenth congress of the National Association of Small Farmers, the connotation of such historical dates was recalled in the event for the Day of the Peasant in Contramaestre.
