Book and reading festival held in Contramaestre

The municipal bookstore Daniel Reádigos Pérez was the venue chosen to hold the book and reading festival in Contramaestre. The meeting took place with the presence of writers and amateur artists of the territory, who were in charge of the presentation of the books and other cultural activities.

Among the works presented were the Bible of the Poor, by the Colombian author Juan Manuel Roca, and the anthology of poems by Edward Encima, from Contramaestre, recently published at the international book fair. They also commented on the artistic work of young Cuban writers and their vision of Cuba’s social life through poetry.

Amarilis Rivera Rodríguez, director of the Daniel Reádigos Pérez municipal bookstore, said that the literary offerings of the day were limited, given the restricted availability of books in the municipality. She added that this situation is to be solved in the following days, by means of extensive sales in schools and workplaces.

The main objective of the book and reading festival is the promotion of different works and authors that are of interest to the reading public, in addition to the realization of cultural activities that attract the youngest to the world of reading. In Contramaestre, this festival is a way to bring culture closer to the population.
