As the entrance exams for higher education are approaching, students and teachers of the Antonio Santiago García pre-university institute, in the municipality of Contramaestre, are intensifying their efforts to guarantee optimum preparation. In this sense, the main teaching strategies are focused on differentiated work with the students.
Joaquín Pérez Parra, director of the educational institution, announced that the training for the entrance exams is carried out from the tenth grade onwards, and that it includes a wide range of curricular and extracurricular activities.
As results of the ordinary convocation, the institution expects to achieve a total pass rate in the subjects of Spanish and History of Cuba, and more than 90 percent in Mathematics. In this sense, the commitment of the students themselves plays a decisive role. For their part, the coaches have professional skills that guarantee the success of their work.
Perez Parra also commented that in the last few weeks the effort of teachers, family and students has been significant, so that a mastery of the contents by the latter is already evident.

Concerning the students who fail in any of the three subjects, the director pointed out that their continuity of studies at the higher level is guaranteed through a broad plan of places at the provincial level, a situation that will be extended to those who decide not to take the entrance exams.
In the municipality of Contramaestre, training for the entrance exams is a priority task for high schools, since they guarantee access to university for a large number of twelfth grade students.
