Mariela Martínez Rosales is one of these fish farming technicians, owner of the water mirrors of the “Carlos Manuel de Céspedes” Alevinage Station, who goes out daily to conquer with knowledge and skill all the initial processes for the development of different aquaculture species.

This woman with more than 35 years in the sector, in the midst of a difficult economic scenario, defies adversity to ensure the reproductive cycles of tench, amura carp, tilapia and claria, in addition to the activity of alevinage for future planting in dams and micro-dams in Contramaestre and other neighboring municipalities.

Her vast experience as an aquaculturist in the management of this biomass to ensure the restocking of the reservoirs, linked to the preparation of the infrastructure in 7 productive hectares, is a valuable learning experience for local fisheries.

Mariela Martínez spends long hours under a sun that cracks the stones, accompanied by other men from the Alevinage Station, to take care of the fish that are born there like her own children, then they are seeded and fertilized while waiting for the desired size, according to each stage of growth.
