How great was that man of Latin America, of his Venezuela, of Cuba, described by Fidel as “the best friend” of the Island.

Hugo Chávez has not gone away because he died at the zenith of his glory, with extraordinary eloquence, unmistakable conduct, unitary vocation. He was and is the irreplaceable leader.

He was Chavez, the Bolivar with continental dreams of unity, a man who was able to grasp the needs of his people to make them his own and make his ideals of independence and social justice a reality.

Your death on that March 5, 1913, is remembered as a shadow of pain and tears that saddened the skies of Cuba and America. The Bolivar of the 21st century said goodbye, the spirit of rebellion was extinguished to germinate in fertile soil.

With a brief but intense life, Hugo Chávez was the paradigm of pure stock. Sincere, dancer and singer of the deep music of his lands, playful, decent joker and born diplomat. Modest and human.

Although he left forever, without return, Venezuelan and Cuban hearts mourn his absence with sadness; they mourn the young soul that did not deserve to leave so early.

Twelve years after his last farewell, Cuba remembers him with infinite love, with recognized prestige, as one of the greats of the Americas who made inroads in the integrationist purposes of Simón Bolívar, whom he vindicated so much in the history of the Great Homeland.

The man of Latin America will never be forgotten for his immaculate greatness, so long Hugo Chávez Frías!
