Baire is a worthy site to remember the 1895 Cry for Independence.

Baire has been and will be a place to remember the Cry of Independence that took place in several points of the Cuban geography on February 24, 1895, as a continuation of our liberation struggles.

Today took place the national act for the uprising of that February 24, presided over by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and the presence of a wide representation of the people of the entire municipality of Contramaestre.

With the Cry of Baire, began the War of ’95 (1895), or necessary War, which represented the continuation of the struggles for the independence of Cuba, before had taken place the War of the Ten Years and the Chiquita War without achieving its purpose of putting an end to the Spanish colonialism and achieving freedom.

Baire, in all the commemorative week of February 24, is also the scene of the Event of Local History and Computers, organized by the National Union of Historians of Cuba, headed in Contramaestre by Master Andrés Núñez Lora, which this year took place on the 19th.

This event serves faithfully to the teaching and promotion of historical topics related to the locality and the nation in full defense of our identity as a nation and to accentuate the need to defend the conquests of the Cuban people in the course of time and its revolution.
