The province of Santiago de Cuba has started the year with serious intentions to increase meat volumes as part of the food security plans in this region. The first step to achieve this is on the land, with the production of animal feed like soybeans. In the Laguna Blanca agricultural enterprise, the cultivation of grains such as sorghum and soybeans is being promoted.
These are quadrants under irrigation in the Laguna Blanca agricultural enterprise. They belong to “Maquina Cinco” and 16 hectares of soybean are planted here, out of fifty that are planned for these first days of the year in this entity of the Ministry of Agriculture.
In order to reach the fifty hectares of soybean, the workers of Laguna Blanca are intensively preparing the rest of the land in “Maquina Cinco”, taking advantage of the ideal weather conditions during the cold season.
In the same way, work is being carried out in these quadrants belonging to Máquina Cuatro, where land preparation is in more advanced stages.
Making dynamic progress in the soybean sowing in the lands of the agricultural company of Laguna Blanca, will allow the realization of an important part of the plans of the food sovereignty strategy proposed for this year by the province of Santiago de Cuba.
Given its strategic transcendence, this is an issue to which the highest authorities in the untamed region pay special attention, checking it permanently in meetings with producers and on the field.
