ALBA-TCP congratulated Cuba on its triumph at the UN General Assembly

UN General Assembly: over three decades of rejection of US blockade

Caracas, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) ALBA-TCP congratulated Cuba for what it called a historic vote at the UN General Assembly against the illegal and criminal U.S. blockade of that sister country, it was reported here today.

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) stated in a communiqué last night that the entire world, in an unequivocal demonstration, expressed “its total repudiation of this inhumane measure of more than six decades”.

It underlined that it caused incalculable damages to the well-being of the Cuban people and its economy and “has been the cause of family breakups and hundreds of difficulties in the food, health, transportation and other basic services sectors”.

The Latin American and Caribbean integration mechanism stressed that the brave Cuban people have been able to overcome obstacles with resilience and dignity and do not bow down before Washington’s cruelty.

The ALBA-TCP member states will continue to raise their voices to demand from the U.S. government “an immediate end to the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on Cuba”, as well as its exclusion from the arbitrary and unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The integrating bloc sent its warm congratulations to the Cuban people and government, led by President Miguel Díaz-Canel and historic leader Army General Raúl Castro, confident that the Alliance is moving towards a more just, equitable and democratic world.

Guided, he said, by love and respect for the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean and “having as an example the dignity of the Cuban people”.

For the thirty-second consecutive occasion, the world community supported the draft resolution presented by Cuba against the economic, commercial and financial blockade the day before with 187 votes in favor, two against and one abstention.
