Contramaestre is a worthy place for the development of women and offers, like all of Cuba, opportunities for women to be inserted in society with all the rights at the same level as men.
In different areas women are shown while developing their work activities, both in agricultural production, education, trade services, health among others.
Women in Contramaestre will always be at the forefront of Cuban society in their role of housewife, worker in any of the jobs they have by right defended by their organization, the Federation of Cuban Women,FMC, founded by Vilama Espín om August 23, 1960.
The Commader-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution referred this foundational moment: “Cuban women, doubly humiliated and relegated by the semicolonial society, needed their own organization to represent their specific interests and to work for their broader participation in the economic, political and social life of the Revolution”.
