Cuban women mostly belong to an organization founded by Vilma Espin on Agust 23, to defend the women’s rights and place them in the center of the nation development side by side men. And so, the Federation of Cuban Women came into being, as a space to encourage their empowerment.
Laritza Brizuela López is a rice producer in the municipality of Contramaestre and has become a leading extensionist of this crop.

Idaelia Vega Peña works as a brigade leader at the Rolando Ayud coffee processing plant. There, her innovations have maintained the vitality of this Contramaestrian industry for many years.

Yanila Fajardo Pérez, serves as Head of the Early Childhood Education Level.

These three women hold stories of love for what they do. If these rice fields are more productive, if the equipment for the selection of coffee for export works efficiently, or if the early childhood education in Contramaestre overcomes the shortages of these times, all this happens because these three women make the impossible real.
When dawn breaks in Cuba these women multiply in thousands and thousands, fertilizing with their hands and their talents, the freedom that the Federation of Cuban Women has helped them to conquer during 64 years.
