The batey of Central America Libre in the municipality of Contramaestre in the province of Santiago de Cuba, was the place chosen to develop the municipal act for the 71st anniversary of the Assaults to the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks in Bayamo and Moncada in the untamed province on July 26, 1953, year that marked the centenary of José Martí, whom Fidel Castro would point out as the intellectual author of the glorious deed that although militarily was a failure, it served to raise the morale of the revolutionaries and traced the path to the final victory on January 1st, 1959.
Yosel Rosales Alvarez, a militant of the Union of Young Communists, UJC, on behalf of the Contramaestrian youth pronounced fiery words:
“It is up to the youth of Contramaestrian as the undisputed owner of our future to understand it and contribute to its positive transformation and to keep safe the inherited conquests of the nation at the price of any sacrifice. We will never forget our history, it is the one that has led us in all the stages of our revolutionary process, the one that marks the firm path to follow and to forget it would be to dishonor the memory of those who dedicated all their lives to the good of the Homeland and it has been demonstrated that those who forget fail…”.
Twenty new communists received the card that accredits them as members of the ranks of the Communist Party of Cuba, also received the recognition of organizations, institutions and outstanding entities in the fulfillment of the commitments outlined in salute to the Gesta del Moncada.
In the central words, Yimisleidis Rosales Fernandez, member of the Municipal Bureau of the Party emphasized why Cubans cannot forget our history.
“We seem to be watching Fidel and Abel guiding the actions, secret until the decisive hour, Fidel visionary telling his comrades: you can win in a few hours or be defeated, in any case, listen well, the movement will triumph. If we win tomorrow, what Martí aspired to will be done sooner, if the opposite happens, the gesture will serve as an example to the people of Cuba. The actions of July 26, 1953 were the beginning of the end of the last dictatorship installed in Cuba. Today more than ever it is up to us to firmly defy all adversity to continue building a society with justice for all, we are the generation heir to the traditions of struggle of our heroes and martyrs.
