How immense is the happiness of children and adolescents in Cuba with which they conquer hearts and capture the soul. On the island, childhood is not abandoned or unprotected, nor are our children forced to work.
Their smile, their sincere language and their joyful look, is the most beautiful gift this June 12, international day against child abuse, whose lives full of imagination, dreams, sharpness and nuances are far from the universe of vulnerable children, subjected to exploitation, stories of abuse, economic responsibility, unhappiness.
Because Cuba is a country where nothing is more important than a child, a country where sincere friends do not have the sad and fearful look of others, but a clear and joyful look for the right to equality without distinction of race.
Because childhood in Cuba has privileges that distinguish it: inclusive and quality education, free and compulsory, right to health, food, culture and laws.
On the other hand, in other latitudes of the world, children’s lives go by without a tender smile, where love and affection demand priority and initiatives.
In Cuba, childhood caresses the sun every morning with poetry, songs, dances, tongue twisters, voices and rhythms that color the magic of those who know how to love, of those who are the hope of the world.
However, in other distant lands, the gift of the little ones is the darkness far away from the light that extinguishes happiness and fantasy, extinguishes laughter. Hard work, zero education, little or no medical care and malnutrition is the reality that accompanies them.
With the mischievous smile, the cheerful look and the enviable spirit of the children, Cuba garnishes the celebration of the World Day Against Child Labor, which is celebrated every June 12 to protect minors from this scourge.
