With the persistence of high prices in the products we have already expired in Contramaestre five months of another hard year, a stage in which the economic contraction is evident as a result of the difficult and complex reality inherited from 2023 and that complicates the family economy.
The price panorama has its impact on the insufficient capture of foreign currency, on the macroeconomic imbalances, on the persistence of a large fiscal deficit and a growing inflation, which results in shortages of food, medicines and other goods and services for the population.
With a clear awareness of our own weaknesses and inadequacies, whose solutions are included in the Government’s Projections aimed at correcting distortions and boosting the economy during 2024, we have no other alternative but to look inside ourselves so as not to continue feeding papers or seeking discipline in a hurry.
The transformation of reality requires follow-up and action, because although it is true that a group of measures were outlined to correct distortions, it is also true that many have believed that these measures do not require a working system and forms of control.
Suffice it to point out the immediate need to guarantee effective methods of price regulation and control, one of the issues that has the greatest impact on the great dissatisfaction of the people.
The matter deserves a singular approach in the municipality of Contramaestre, where the list does not play with the bill, the prices of everything escalating every day, mainly of basic necessities, such as agricultural products and food found in the welcome Mipymes, but with skyrocketing prices.
Prices, which today are strangling and depressing the majority of Contramaestrians, are becoming the subject of conversations in the queues, in the warehouses, among neighbors, at workplaces and even in the living room of any family gathered at home.
The bill is simply not enough, and in the daily desperation of squeezing every last penny in search of survival, many wonder where is the effective governmental confrontation to the high rates of everything, and the question is common.
And where are the inspectors? Who is going to put a stop to this escalation, which has raised the cost of living to unaffordable figures? Why don’t they apply Decree Law number 30 since the beginning of 2021, against abusive and speculative prices?
In the puzzle of the Cuban economy, this issue of soaring prices, urges an energetic confrontation to correct such distortion and stop the law of the jungle with respect to supply and demand; otherwise the vast majority of the human species in the municipality of Contramaestre, we will survive helpless in this jungle.
