Corn harvest in Contramaestre keeps up a good pace

More than 200 tons of corn are expected to be produced in the Santiago municipality of Contramaestre. To date, the harvesting of the demanded grain is at a good pace.

The corn is going to surpass the established parameters – assured Yoel Rabasa Carrazana, delegate of Agriculture in Contramaestre.

Journalist: What is the destination of this production?

Yoel Rabasa: “It has three destinations, one is the consumption of the population which is made at a flour level, another one is the industries for the elaboration of bread and the third one is animal consumption”.

Q.: The current corn harvest in Contramaestre can be evaluated as favorable.

Y.R.: “Yes, the price is good, it is being paid at four thousand eight hundred and fifty pesos per 100 lb of corn if you take it to the industry that exists in the municipality, they pay you one hundred and fifty pesos per 100 lb of corn, so the price is in accordance with the current times we are living”.

Q.: How is the payment to the producers?

Y.R.: “It is being made immediately by the company of Palma Soriano, there is a good agreement with the UEB of Grains that exists here in the territory, good informative discipline with the delegation and the payment to the producers is coming quickly”.
